A new word for myself —– Expatriate
For a long time, I call those foreign people who live in China ” foreigners”. I just figured there is a better word for this term — expatriate. Thanks to 流浪的笨笨 from yantaibbs.
I did some dig on this word. An expatriate (in abbreviated form, expat) is a person temporarily or permanently residing in a country and culture other than that of the person’s upbringing or legal residence. The word comes from the Latin ex (out of) and patria (country, fatherland).
Since there will have certain number of Chinese read this blog, it would be reasonable to have a word explanation section imo. I will explain Chinese words too.
I hope you enjoy the pic, i found it from flickr.com. ” Practice makes perfect!!!!”
